More than just a job – passion to serve
Leon considers his career at Yucca Telecom a blessing, he is honored to be able to serve the community while at work and still fulfill his childhood dream of farming and raising livestock in his spare time. An employee of Yucca Telecom for 29 years, Leon is active in serving and supporting our local community. Leon says “While working at Yucca, I’ve had a chance to provide essential services to lots of people – and I’ve established life-long friendships with many of them.”

Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I wanted to work with farm and livestock
Q: How long have you lived in the area?
A: 56 Years
Q: What is your professional background?
A: I studied electronics in College. I have worked in communications for my whole career. I started in Wireless communications for a company in Clovis installing and repairing 2-way radios, mobile telephones. The company also provided pager services. I later moved to another wireless communications company before my employment at Yucca Telecom.
Q: What do you do at Yucca?
A: At Yucca, my responsibility has always been to provide equipment for the customer to communicate through and maintain the equipment if it fails to provide the desired communication avenue. Telecommunications is always developing better technologies and options for the customers to gain benefits and efficiencies. This requires continual learning and changing of technology.
Q: What do you like best about your job?
A: Being a Yucca employee has provided multiple opportunities to help businesses be more efficient and also provide assistance to the public sector of Law Enforcement, Fire and ambulance services. I hear many stories from our customers that the service and equipment provided has created great benefits in their lives and also lifesaving events due to having the communications service available during accidents or other situations.
